Description

Cari Sanchez-Potter and Sabeen Perwaiz have partnered with Edible Northeast Florida magazine to bring you VICARIOUS Kitchen, an immersive culinary adventure where local cooks from different cultural backgrounds teach intimate cooking classes in private homes around Jacksonville. The workshops offer an opportunity to share the rich cultural diversity of Jacksonville and learn about the many people and cuisines that make up the fabric of our region's culinary identity.

Join us on Sunday, July 17th for a workshop featuring regional Mexican cuisine by Chef Jose "Frankie" Salome!

Frankie will demonstrate some of his family recipes from his home state of Guerrero and we'll walk away with recipes, shopping tips, stories and new friends.

Join us on this culinary cultural exchange!

Each ticket includes a welcome drink, the hands-on cooking demonstration, a seated meal with wine and beer, and recipes and shopping tips for you to take home.

The class structure is:

2:00 - 2:30pm Welcome drink / orientation / intros

2:30 - 4:00pm Cooking demonstration: chicken mole on white rice with queso fresco

4:00 - 5:00pm Eat: 3-course Guerrero meal

5:00pm Depart

Each class is limited to 12 participants.

Chef Jose Salome grew up in the town of San Marcos which is near Acapulco in the Mexican state of Guerrero. He is now a professional chef and will be showing us how to make a nopales and avocado salad, a tostada featuring a picadillo recipe native to Guerrero, and how to de-bone a chicken for his family mole recipe!
